YANN VATISTE (FR/UK)

Lugares donde he pinchado: 100 Club, Capitol Soul Club, Cleethorpes, These Old Shoes, Gothenburg, Frankfurt, Madrid, Barcelona, Leon, La Rochelle, Dresden, Rimini, Paris, Hamburg….

DJs favoritos: Butch, Arthur Fenn,  Andy Dyson, Mick H, Dave Flynn…

Betty Wislon – I’m yours (DAYCO)

Pee Wee Shuck and Huey – Beside myself (FLAGG)

The Cashmeres – Show stopper / Don’t let the door hit your back (HEM)

Buddy Smith – When you lose the one you love (BRUTE)

Johnny Mae Mathews – I have no choice (BIG HIT)

Cleveland Robinson – Love is a trap (NOSNIBOR)

The Oxford Nights – I’m such a lonely one (DELPHI)

SEBASTIAN FONZEUS (SWE)

Betty Wright – Mr. Lucky (SOLID SOUL)
P.J. City – Straight Forward (Non-Stop) (RISE)
Larry Dixon – Don’t It Make You Dance (LAD)
Phillip Wright – Keep Her Happy (DASH)
Eddie Jackson – Memories Of A Dream (BREWTOWN)
Angela Davis – My Love (Is So Strong) (FLAMING ARROW)
Grace – Inside Your Dreams (KEF)

RICARD PRIETO (Barcelona)

Lamont Dozier – You made me a believer (COLUMBIA)
Clyfton Dyson – I’m givin up (QS)
Chain Reaction – Changes (JAM SESSIONS)
Freeway– Get the feelin’ (NEBULA)

YANN VATISTE (FR/UK)

36 Years old originally from Lyon (FR). Co-founder of the VaVaVoom Soul Club with my friend Ady Lupton. I’ve discovered Northern Soul Music, R&B, Latin, Ska, Jazz, Acid Jazz & Funk from the Mod Scene in the late 80’s. In the mid 90’s, I’ve moved to London and have started to collect rare soul since then.  I’ve attended some of the best Soul Nights, All-nighters & Soul Weekenders in the UK (100club, Cleethorpes, Capitol Soul Club, Life Line, Prestatyn, Ritz…). I’ve been collecting (Great Oldies, Newies, Instrumentals, Unknowns & Classics mainly from the 60’s & a touch of 70’s) for few years now & try to keep the same enthusiasm that drives me into the scene: QUALITY SOUL MUSIC.

Places where I’ve Dj: 100Club, Capitol Soul Club, Cleethorpes, These Old Shoes, Gothenburg, Frankfurt, Madrid, Barcelona, Leon, La Rochelle, Dresden, Rimini, Paris, Hamburg….

SEBASTIAN FONZEUS (SWE)

During my entire life I’ve had an almost unhealthy passion for music. I started buying records at the age of 6 and since then I have consistently been deepening and broadening my musical horizons. During my formative teens I always liked soul music, but it wasn’t until 1997 at the age of 16 when a friend of mine pretty much by accident got ahold of a “northern soul” compilation CD, that I seriously caught the bug for obscure old 60s and 70s uptempo soul. It sounded just as gritty and unpolished as the american 60s garage rock
that I loved so I felt an immediate connection.

I started to seriously collect soul, rhythm & blues and funk 45s in
1999 and since then I have been DJing and organizing club events here in my hometown of Malmoe, Sweden. During the past 2 years I’ve run the successful CLUB FUNCTION together with my friends Helena, Jonte and Joppe. Our music policy is an eclectic mix of pounding, uptempo northern soul, funk, modern soul, underground disco and boogie.

Betty Wright – Mr. Lucky (SOLID SOUL)
P.J. City – Straight Forward (Non-Stop) (RISE)
Larry Dixon – Don’t It Make You Dance (LAD)
Phillip Wright – Keep Her Happy (DASH)
Eddie Jackson – Memories Of A Dream (BREWTOWN)
Angela Davis – My Love (Is So Strong) (FLAMING ARROW)
Grace – Inside Your Dreams (KEF)

RICARD PRIETO (Barcelona)

Ricard Prieto (Barcelona 1966) is an incorruptible afroamericam music fan. After years and years enjoying lots of Soul, Jazz and Funk sessions in a variety of styles, one day he decided to bring some records from home and play a set in front of his friends. Since the early 90s, Ricard take part as DJ in the main Soul weekenders all over the country, Soul4Real (Bilbao), Black Apocalypse (Gijon, Asturias), Floorshaker (Barcelona) or Say It Loud (Santiago), etc. In other respects, he was too co-editor of the remembered fanzine “Soul Time”, as well occassional contributor to music mags and radio performings. In this Movin’On, his selection will reach as usual a wide spectrum, from straight 70s & 80s Soul to underground Disco or NY Soulful house.
