Reggae Recipe 5th anniversary weekender – Amsterdam 18-19 june 2010
almost five years have passed since Reggae Recipe came out for the first time. 20 june 2005, an unusually warm sunday saluted our first performance in the now defunct De Diepte right behind Dam Square. We started spinning when still nobody was inside; in the end we had a packed dancefloor, and got paid 20 euros each (plus free drinks).
Now, with about 20 parties behind our backs and increasingly bigger budgets (and still earning in the end not much more than the first time… but this is not what’s all about, is it?) we’re gonna celebrate this milestone with yet a new weekender, exactly in the weekend when 5 years ago this adventure started.
The kick-off will be in the shape of the Reggae Recipe parties most people know from the previous years. On friday 18 june in the Maloe Melo (Lijnbaansgracht 163) with the comeback of Ollie Q & Big Six after a few years absence from Amsterdam’s stages, plus free Caribbean snacks for the early birds. And behind the turntables you’ll be assisting the reunion of Reggae Recipe’s founding duo: Flavio Bacardi and Charley Rhythm (Amsterdam Beat Club).
On saturday 19, just the time to recover from friday’s party (and to cheer for Holland in the World Cup match against Japan…) and it’s already time for the pièce-de-resistance: just at the Back of Amsterdam Central Station we’ll be boarding on a three levels boat, sailing in the direction of the Markenmeer, dancing to the sound of our guest selectors and eventually enjoying a four course Jamaican dinner made in collaboration with Planet Rose, the one and only Jamaican restaurant in Amsterdam, awarded with a 9+ by Holland’s most famous culinary critic!
Then just a quick walk to the Dam Square area for the closing party, that will be held in CluB Stereo (Jonge Roelensteeg 4) from 22:00 to 3:00hrs
Getting some appetite? Then book your place quick. There are only 100 tickets available.
