Bobby Sixkiller Interview
Redstar73 Blog: Please introduce your band to our readers.
Bobby Sixkiller: Hi readers! We are Bobby Sixkiller, a band from Nancy (northeast of France). We are playing jamaican music with some soul and rock influences for almost 4 years. Since end of 2008 we made about fifty gigs all over France and some in Germany and Belgium.
Redstar73 Blog: Your new album is coming out soon. Can you tell us more about it? How many songs? Whats the difference to your first CD?
Bobby Sixkiller: To be precise that’s our first album. We made a 6 tracks demo in 2009 – the CD you’re referring to – and a split LP with The Branlarians in the beginning of this year. The album will be a 13 tracks disc on CD and LP. The CD will be released by Redstar 73 Records, AK54 Crew, Rudy’s Back and Les Productions de l’Impossible – the LP by Casual Records. We have work a lot on this project for a year and we are very happy to get to the end. We just received the master and the sound is much better than the precedent recording. We have spend 10 days in a professional studio managed by a friend from 65 mines street, so we have play in very good conditions. The master has been made by a professional studio too. The 13 tracks are a mix of our different musical influences, so it’s a litlle bit more various than the other discs and we have put the accent on the backing vocals.
Redstar73 Blog: Any other plans for the future?
Bobby Sixkiller: It has been a lot of work to make this album. So we just want to play it on stage as much as we can and everywhere we can ! That’s what we’re going to do for the moment. We are also thinking about a tour in spring 2012 but it will mostly depend on our work availability.
Redstar73 Blog: How important is politics for you?
Bobby Sixkiller: We can’t say our music is « politic » and we’re not organize in political organisation or trade union. However we are clearly antiracist and antifascist. We often play for support gigs : for the french CNT, for an association helping paperless people, for an unemployed people association, antifascist organizations…that’s our way to help activist who we agree with.
Redstar73 Blog: Last words
Bobby Sixkiller: Thank you and to all the people who made this album possible.
