Los Aggrotones Interview
Redstar73 Blog: Please can you introduce your band. When was it started?
Los Aggrotones: Los Aggrotones started in 2008, in that time, there weren’t skinhead reggae bands and we wanted to see that kind of bands so we decided make our own band. Our name came because we wanted a name which make any person who read it know that this was a skinhead reggae band. The idea of our band always was spread skinhead reggae here, we also dj before and after our gigs, made fanzines and that kind of stuff… In that year we recorded “Reggae Rapado” our first EP, which made a lot of people over here who had never listened to skinhead reggae, know it and they started to like it. In 2010 we made a new EP called “Bajo La Luna” and also recorded our new CD called “Moods” which was released just a few month ago by our local label “Una Isla Club Records”.
Redstar73 Blog: You have just released a new album, ‘Mood’, which is amazing. Could you tell us more about it? When was it recorded? Musical influences?
Los Aggrotones: It was recorded in 2010 and it took us a lot of time to finish it, but fortunately we are glad about how it was finished! We recorded it in our drummer’s studio, and it was a great experience for us! About the cd, it has 15 instrumental skinhead reggae tunes, all leaded by the hammond organ! Our influences are and were Winston Wright, Neville Hinds, Booker T, Mohawks, Earl Van Dyke, The Upsetters, Hot Rod All Stars, The Dynamites, Boris Gardiner, Federalmen etc
Redstar73 Blog: What are your plans for the future? Any plans to do a few recordings with a singer?
Los Aggrotones: Yes we are trying to make our first 7″! We are organizing a lot of gigs here in Argentina introduce our new cd and make the people know about the skinhead reggae sound! About the singer, we are an instrumental band, but we’d love to some day make some recordings with other singer!
Redstar73 Blog: What’s the early reggae /ska scene like in your area?
Los Aggrotones: There are some ska bands here as Staya Staya, Satelite Kingston, Manchesta, Ska Beat City and also some djs as Sebas GD or Selector Lucho. One of us organize concerts and parties such as Bang Bang Lulu and Brixton Memories and also write the fanzine called “Scooters & Reggae” and our keyboard player has a sound system called Reggae & Destroy. Honestly, the scene is just starting but we hope there will be more people in the next years!
