Spanner Interview

Redstar73 Blog: Please can you introduce your band. When was it started?
Spanner: Hi, we’re called Spanner and we’ve been having a riot since around 2000. We play a mix of punk and ska, with a militant anarchistic perspective lyrically.

Redstar73 Blog: How important is politics for you?
Spanner: You wouldn’t put Jimmy Saville in charge of a Alton Towers so why leave politics to politicians? It’s literally important to us.

Redstar73 Blog: You have been to Canada recently. How was the tour over there?
Spanner: Rad. Epic. Frigging great. Top people. Cracking gigs. Much hilarity. A romance with Farler’s Fury. Mutual love and respect with Rebel Time Records. Just an old fashioned romance story really.

Redstar73 Blog: What are your plans for the future?
Spanner: Worldwide Revolution with lots of skanking on the ruins of Capitalism. Going back to Canada. The Quest for the perfect vegan breakfast, one town at a time.

Redstar73 Blog: What’s the punk /ska scene like in your area?
Spanner: It’s getting better everyday. Looking nice and busy. We have a really positive feeling about the Bristol punk scene, it’s getting more and more vibrant every weekend, lots of touring bands and more importantly fresh faces to complement the haggard ones at the back (and sometimes onstage…..).

Redstar73 Blog: Last words
Spanner: Make some noise, make some trouble. Keep it angry. Aim high. And don’t forget to tell people you care about how much you love them. Be nice to animals. Don’t vote, watch Trailer Park Boys instead. Then join your local neighborhood riot.
